Kristen earned a BA in Secondary Education and History from Drury University and her MA in Social Science Education from Webster University. She began her teaching career in 2011 and has taught middle school, high school, and adult education. She absolutely loves adult education and feels like the Excel Center is exactly where she is supposed to be! It feels like home!
Education: Master of Science in Health Promotion and Wellness Management from Missouri State University; Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Emphasis in Mathematics, Spanish, Language Arts from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I have a vast job history which has lead me to the Excel Center and I still have a list of professions that I am interested in possibly pursuing when "I grow up". I am an educator by heart, education, and profession. I enjoy meeting new people, fostering friendships, educating people, and learning new things every day. I love spending time traveling and experiencing life's moments with family and friends.
Kevin teaches science and mathematics at the Excel Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He taught science and mathematics in public schools for over 30 years before becoming a juvenile officer in the 42nd Judicial Circuit for 5 years. He joined the Excel staff in 2018. A veteran of the Missouri National Guard, Kevin enjoys hunting, fishing, backpacking, and floating in Missouri’s rivers.
Katie earned her B.S in Accounting & M.A. Mathematics at the University of Missouri St. Louis. "I began teaching at the St. Louis Excel Center when it opened in 2018. I am truly blessed with this opportunity to help our students and community grow!"
Josie earned her MSW at Saint Louis University and her MA in Religious Studies at Mizzou. Previously she was a program director for a local agency dedicated to serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also taught English in Japan. "Although I'm new to Goodwill, I’m excited to be a part of the Excel Center. We have hard working students and great staff!"
John earned his B.S. Mathematics from Millikin University, and a M.S. Technology Education Walden University. He spent 33 years as a mathematics teacher, and Department Chair public schools in St. Charles and St. Louis Co. Outside of school, John enjoys spending time with his family and racing sailboats."There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those that understand binary code and those that don't."
Entering fourth year at the Excel Center and teaches high school courses in English, theatre, and dual credit courses in history, religion, and English. Trained as a historian of religion at the University of Iowa and is completing a graduate certificate in English at Western New Mexico University. Enjoys introducing students to the rigors of college-level work.
Studied at: Missouri State University and University of Kansas. Previously employed at: Charleston High School in Charleston MO; performed student teaching at Parkview in Springfield under M. House. I enjoy working for Goodwill because I'm afforded autonomy and support, both personally and professionally. Employers are willing to discuss curriculum changes and ideas, respectful of identity and knowledge.
Jessica is the Daycare Director at Kid’s Excel. She has worked with children for 20 years and just recently earned a master’s degree from Hannibal LaGrange University. In her spare time, she loves to travel and explore new places with her family.
